Take An Effective Mental Health Day

Take a moment.

I get it. You’re busy-very busy. Perhaps you laughed at the thought of taking a whole day. Ok, so let’s start small. If you can take a whole day, take it. If you can’t - take a moment. My definition of a moment is 30 minutes minimum and here’s why taking time for you is important.

That image you see above was chosen for a reason. What I love about children is that they know how to have fun. They know how to be solely focused on that one thing (until they’re not). Their laughter is loud and infectious. They’re in awe of things we’re so used to seeing. And they really do know how to have boundaries. Saying no or showing you what they don’t like comes easy. I want you to tap into that. Sometimes, life is busy because we make it too busy.

I’m thankful for 24 hours in a day. It gives us a chance to make our moments count and learn not to take ourselves too serious. Here’s my recommendation to you: Take off the cape and leave that to the animated cartoons we grew up with. Put down your phone (30 minutes to 1 hour) and do something else. Engage your mind and rest your body by doing things you love. Remember what you loved as a kid? Do that. Laugh a lot and surround yourself with those who matter to you, individuals who know how to have fun. Or just talk. Whatever IT is…take a moment and enjoy it. Your mental health says thank you.
